The United States government is broken up into three branches, the legislative, the executive and the judicial. The legislative branch consists of congress, which is the House of Representatives and the Senate. The executive branch is the White House and bureaucracies that are responsible for enforcing the law. The President and the Vice President, along with the cabinet and government agencies make up the executive branch. Thirdly, there is the judicial branch consisting of the federal court system, (think Supreme Court). In the Judicial branch are 91 district courts, 12 appellate courts and obviously, one Supreme Court.
